Miguel Castro Leñero
Miguel Castro Leñero (1956, Mexico City)
Miguel Castro Leñero was born in Mexico City in 1956. He attended art studies at the National School of Painting and Sculpture “La Esmeralda” and later on, he entered the Center for Plastic Research and Experimentation of the National Institute of Fine Arts.
His work is part of collections in foundations and museums in Mexico and around the world, such as the Sammung Essl Museum (Vienna, Austria), Würth Museum (Kuzelsau, Germany), The Metropolitan Museum (New York, USA); Rufino Tamayo, Museo de Arte Moderno (Mexico City), Museo de Arte Abstracto (Mexico City); and the Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca, Albertina Arts Collections (Austria) and FundaciónBanamex Foundation (Mexico City).
In 2006 he was invited by the prestigious Civitella Ranieri Foundation (Umbria, Italy) to develop a personal project in visual arts. In 2018 he was chosen by the House of Hermès to carry out some projects textiles that were produced in India and exhibited in Milan and Italy.
On several occasions he has been benefited by the Creators of Art of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts, Mexico.His work has appeared in several books, the most recent of which are Animales del Nuevo Mundo, in collaboration with the renowned anthropologist Miguel León Portilla and Avión casa with Editorial Tintable

After more than four decades of artistic work, he has participated in collective and individual exhibitions in and out of the country, of which the following stand out:
