Born in Mexico City, studied architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Participates in façades restoration works in the historic center of Mexico City. In 1989 he emigrates to Europe. From 1993 to 1998 he studies knowledge and application of materials in volume, sculpture, and engraving techniques at the School of Fine Arts in Bern, Switzerland. He attends for several years to Ursula Jakob's engraving studio. At the same time, he participates as an artist in numerous solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, biennials, and competitions, in Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Mexico, France, Austria, Romania, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Czech Republic, USA and Ecuador, as well as several countries in Africa. He has collaborated in curatorial and museographic projects in Mexico and abroad. In recent years, he has participated in collaborations with notable architects in the state of Jalisco, as well as in urban image proposals.
Over the years, Francisco Morales has ventured into diverse techniques ranging from painting, engraving, object art, installation, and urban sculpture to the intervention of spaces.
The work philosophy of Francisco Morales has always been to seek in his proposals a balance, a congruence between the discourse and the object. All his work is based on the generation of atmospheres and is reflected in the staging in galleries and open spaces. In his exhibitions, as well as in specific interventions or the open air, the elements relate to each other to form a whole. In the process, concepts have arisen that illustrate the reflections around the projects: “aesthetics of roughness”, ‘echo of edges’, ‘log of the idea’, ”lineaments of origin”, ‘optical vibration’, ‘on the other side of the gesture’, among others.
